Sending Beautiful Flowers to Ocean City, MD
Ocean City is located in Worcester County and has more than eight thousand residents. It is officially called the Town of Ocean City and is an Atlantic resort town between the Isle of Wight Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. The town is a prominent beach resort area along the East Coast of the country and features a wooden boardwalk and miles of beach with shops, restaurants, and hotels. The city hosts vacationers and visitors annually during the summer, and at the boardwalk's southern end, Trimper's Rides hosts theme park attractions. The city is presently called "The Ladies' Resort to the Ocean."
The town is one of the MD-DE megalopolis areas , making it one of the most populated communities in Maryland. The historical marker of the city tells the brief history of the town, and Englishman Thomas Fenwick obtained the land on which the community was established from the Native Americans. The surrounding areas were also receiving paying guests when businessman Isaac Coffin constructed the first beachfront cottage, and people arrived by ferry and stagecoach. Other simple boarding houses were built on the obtained land, a strip of sand, and attracted important businessmen from the Maryland Eastern Shore, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Wilmington. The businessmen inspected and surveyed the land and concluded to develop it. A corporation was formed to help with the development, and lots were made, so corporation stock was sold.
Hotels in the Community
The first major hotel in the city, known as the Atlantic Hotel, was initially owned by the Atlantic Hotel Company but was sold to Charles W. Purnell. The Purnell family still operates it up to date and has made it an affordable package. The hotel also offers dancing and billiard rooms to vacationers and has served as the northernmost attraction in Ocean City. Visitors travel by the Pocomoke and Wicomico Railroad from Berlin to Sinepuxent Bay. The rail line connecting Chesapeake, Baltimore, and Atlantic Railroad across Sinepuxent Bay to the shore brings passengers to the city. The train station goes through Philadelphia Avenue and returns to larger city markets with domestic fish caught from the area. The Ocean City High School serves the city's residents, and Avas Flowers offers delivery of flower arrangements to the schools. Kindly visit our website for more information.
