Kinsey is a town in northern Houston County, Alabama. This charming town was originally located and incorporated in Henry County in 1893. In 1903, the town was moved to newly formed Houston County and was re-incorporated a few years later. In 1957, the quiet town became part of the much larger Dothan- Alabama Metropolitan Statistical Area. At the 2010 census, the population was 2,198 and the area of the town was 12.1 square miles. About 1,800 people live in 673 households in the town, including 509 families. Population density was 148.4 people per square mile.The town was named after a postmaster named Eliza Kinsey. The town has a rich, diverse, and warm-hearted community. It's full of people who care about one another and are always willing to lend a helping hand.
