The town of Elkview is located in Kanawha County in West Virginia and is a census-designated place. It was named after the Elk River, which flowed into the Kanawha River and is located about three miles away from Charleston. The Elkview Baptist Church started in a four-room schoolhouse. J. Hansford Fischer started ministering in the church in 1948, and his leadership grew the church in membership and spiritually, so a new constitution was structured. The building was remodeled and painted, which brought many more people to the church, and this led to the development of the town because people purchased property close to the church, but Fisher later died. Bobby M. Sizemore took over from Fisher while serving in the Appalachian Bible Institute. Under Sizemore's tenure, the old building was renovated, two sanctuaries were constructed, and a gymnasium was built, but Pastor Sizemore later retired after faithful service. After the tenure of Pastor Sizemore, Pastor David L Keeney took over and modernized the church facilities, changed it into a blended worship style, and bought the property for a future campus. He later resigned, and Pastor Charles Bias took over and served as an overseas Missionary, a Youth Pastor, a Lead Pastor, and an administrative pastor.
