The city of Roy is located in Pierce County, Washington. The city was incorporated in 1908, and it was a rural city close to Tacoma. Its primary features were farms and ranch-style homes. The city was one of the early communities in the area, and It was a major stop and a prosperous boom town along the railroad.

Three major events reduced the town to its current status. The first was a major fire that wiped out most businesses in the area before the depression started in 1929, the railroad that was passing through the area stopped using the city as a stop, and the army started to annex the land in the surrounding area, which limited the towns expansion and local tax base these led to erasing the local community of Loveland. The city has some major features and spots that attract people to the city and the vicinity, and some of those features include the Roy Pioneer Rodeo, which attracts spectators and participants from different states, including Canada.
