A large number of motorists driving along the highway in the community on November 2-3 said that they saw a big egg-like object that was emitting a blue glow, which caused their cars to shut down. The United States Airforce said an electrical storm caused it, but prominent UFO researcher Dr. J. Allen Hynek, an astronomer at Northwestern University, and Dr. James E. McDonald, a physicist at the University of Arizona, said no electrical storm occurred in the area.

The rail park is a 243 acre-rail industrial park  located on the South Plains of West Texas. The park was completed in 2010 and was developed by Levelland Economic Development Corporation. It is used by West Texas & Lubbock Railway. It is located between Interstate Highway 20 (south) and Interstate Highway 40 (north).
