Delivery of Floral Arrangements to Center, TX

The city is located in Shelby County in Texas. It has more than six thousand residents. It was named this because of its location near the Center of Shelby County, not its location in Texas. It is close to the Louisiana border. Shelby County was one of the initial thirteen counties in Texas. The county was named in honor of Isaac Shelby, Governor of Kentucky and an American military hero. It eventually became one of Texas's most prosperous and populous counties because of its closeness to the Sabine River and Louisiana.  A post office was built in this settlement. The East Texas State Representatives introduced a law to have all the county seats be close to the center of the county. The County Clerk made provisions to have the county examined, and the center found. Shelby was the former county seat. However, Parker led a group of men into the courthouse, stole all the papers and records, and took them to a log cabin near White Cottage. This made the community known as the Center City to reflect the location of the county seat.

t was settled by James C. Wilson and Captain Jesse Amason, confederate veterans and Wilson's wife, Margaret Davis Wilson. They all donated fifty acres of the land in the center of the townsite. It was said that Amason refused to give out the land until the new town would have a four-acre town square. This is the reason Center City has such a large square. Wilson developed a reasonable amount of the city. Much of that area is called the "Wilson Addition".

A fire destroyed the courthouse building and it was a complete loss. The county had a deal with an Irish immigrant named J.J.E Gibson to build a jail and a new courthouse. The firm of Martin and Wilson was among the leaders of the project. The courthouse was seen as the centerpiece of the Center Square and was modeled after an Irish castle. A tornado destroyed several buildings in the city. It injured at least fifteen people and killed three people. Some major employers in the Center include Farmers State Bank, Brookshire Brothers, Hallmark, Portacool, Panola College, Shelby Savings Bank, and Tyson Foods.
