The city of Etters is located in York County and it has more than one thousand residents. The city was initially called Goldsboro, formerly Goldsborough, and is a borough even though there is no incorporated place known as Etters. The United States Postal Service made a declaration that the name "Etters" is preferred over "Goldsboro" for addressing mail. The village of Goldsboro stands because Nathan Hussey, a Quaker from New Castle County, Delaware, purchased a grant of land. The town was named after Henry Etter.
