Anniversary Flowers Sent to Rogersville, MO

The city is located in Webster and Greene Counties and is one of the Springfield megalopolis areas. The city was originally known as the "Raccoon Capital of the World" and was ranked as one of the best places to live in Southwest Missouri. It was named after the first settler, Doctor Rogers, and a post office called Rogersville has been in existence. The Citizens Bank became a corporation in the city with capital stock, and this corporation documented the city's history. Dr. Isaac Rogers, who was a young physician, donated fifty dollars for the establishment of the city. He made a deal that if his name were used for the settlement, he would donate for the expense of laying out streets and surveying. Although the initial survey was done by J.J. Watts, the first postmaster was appointed because five rural carriers started using horses and buggies. The school was held in the blacksmith shop and a community church was built that serves the residents. The first bank opened but failed. The Citizens Bank was later chartered and the city was incorporated.

Community Education

The Rogersville School District in Webster County combined with Logan School District in southeast Greene County became a whole entity of the Logan-Rogersville School District. It serves the residents of the community because there is no village, city, or hamlet named "Logan," but the Logan family donated land for the Elementary School. The High School gym serves the city's residents.

The economy of the city started blooming with an increase in commercial development, housing permits, and the record-breaking growth of the Rogersville Area Chamber of Commerce when they gave some local services Business of the Year Awards.
