Riverdale  is located in Prince George's County, Maryland. It has a population of more than 8,000 residents. The town is a suburb of Washington D.C. The Calvert's family were the initial leaders of the Maryland colony; they were very influential in the community. The Riverdale House Museum showcases the history and life of the community. The streetcar was also developed in the community. In 1801 signaled the development of the area after a Belgian, Henri Joseph Stier, bought more than 800 acres of land near Anacostia River. Two years after purchasing the property in 1803, he returned with his wife to Belgium. He handed the plantation over to their son Charles Benedict Calvert in 1838. Charles Calvert got elected into the United States Congress in 1861 and carried out a lot of agricultural achievements in the community, which led to the basis of an increase in the development of the community.

The heirs of Charles Benedict Calvert sold a portion of the land totaling 474 acres to businessmen Alexander Lutz and John Fox in different transactions. They later formed the Riverdale Park Company with the aim of creating a residential suburb for middle-class people working in Baltimore and Washington D.C. After the construction of residential buildings started in the community, the area provided an opportunity for people to reside in the community and work in Washington D.C. Some developers recognized the potential of the site and started constructing single-family dwellings. One of such developers is Joseph A. Bludon. He is known as the Father of Riverdale.
