BWX Technologies is also located in the city and is a large company that makes large metal tubes and large pressure vessels. The company produces heavy-pressure vessels and components for commercial nuclear plants. John T. Myers Locks and Dam is close to the area and was built to improve flood control and navigation on the Ohio River. It was constructed for shipping for the region's river-based industries, and Posey County Newspaper serves the city's residents and is the county's only newspaper. It was established to cater to the city and its neighboring communities. The Alexandrian Public Library serves the city's residents and neighboring communities, including Lynn, Black, Marrs, Robinson, and Point Township.
