Morriston is a city in Arkansas. The town's first name was Lewisburg but it later was changed to Morrilton. The city was incorporated in 1871. Mostly the townland was owned by private people. Some of its landowners were James M. Moose. The city has several historic places and is enriched with art culture. The city is home to various historic buildings such as the Arkansas Christian College Administration Building, Conway County Courthouse, a historic house located near church street, First National Bank of Morrilton, and Morrilton Commercial Historic District.

In 1825 a trading post was established in the area. With the coming of the Little Rock and Fort Smith Railroad the town began to grow. It is named after landowners George H. and E.J. Morrill.
