Sending Bouquets of Roses to Clarksville, AR
The city is located in Johnson County, Arkansas, and has a population of about 10,000 residents. It is also the county seat for Johnson county. It is situated between the foothills of the Ozark Mountains and the Arkansas River. The city is well known for its scenic byways, natural outdoor recreational facilities, and peaches. The community started to develop as settlers arrived in the community after a treaty relocated the Osagie tribe. The Cherokee settlers came to Arkansas and lived by the Arkansas River. Indian traders such as Mattew Lyon established their businesses in the area. Spadra Marina is reserved mainly for the Cherokee and most of the early settlers. The first county seat of Johnson County was Spadra. It is comfortable for steamboat lines though, when train and stagecoach became more common, land routes from Fort Smith and Little Rock were directed towards the city. Clarksville started to grow as it was on a higher elevation, and it became the center due to its higher elevation and the constant flooding of Spadra. The community was created by a survey in 1836. In 1853, the Little Rock and Fort Smith Railroad decided to go through the city instead of Spadra due to the incentives provided by the city administrators in Clarksville, and a realignment of more than twenty miles toward Spadra was removed. Traders that went to Spadra went by water while most people arrived by railroad to the city, and it became a major destination for traders.
