When my mother-in-law died I had a Peace Lily sent to my daughter from my mother (her other grandmother) in memory of her grandmother and also as a daily reminder of the grandmother she lost. She called me when she received it and told me it was a beautiful plant. That's all I needed to hear from her and then I explained the reason it was sent.
