Then, Jacob Taylor officially founded it. Del Mar Union School District serves the town. The district includes eight schools, and the San Dieguito Union High School District lays down high school education.

The North County Transit District runs the transport system of the town. It operates their breeze bus service. The station provides passengers on the Topeka, Atchison, and Santa Fe Railway Surfline. It also serves the Amtrak San Diegan intercity service. It closed down due to the new Solana Beach Station opening from two miles of the North, and It provides Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner service and Coaster commuter rail.
